How to Use Monterrey Online Archives

In this online course you will learn how to use the Monterrey archives. If you are not aware of it Monterrey used to be the center of government for El Nuevo Reino de Leon. Records can be found as early as the 1590's.

With this course you will learn about the Monterrey Online Archives, the record collections that it contains, and the tools and books you will need to find your ancestor in them.

Now let's talk about this presentation. We created an online course with this presentation. Going forward we are going to break up the video recordings of presentations and put them in a course format so that our members can keep track of what presentations they have watched and also watch them by sections.

Intro Dialogue  - Just a quick introduction to the video presentation.

What are the Monterrey Archives  - In this section I talk about what I am specifically talking about when I say the Monterrey Archives.

How to Access the Monterrey Online Archives  - In this section I provide the URL and a short link to be able to access this records.

The Three Most Valuable Collections  - In this section I show and provide information about the three most valuable collections for genealogists that are available on the Monterrey Archives.

Online Index to the Archives - In this section I provide the URL and short link to the online index for the Monterrey Archives.

Books to Help You Find Records  - In this section I mention three books that are available to genealogists to help them find records for each of the three collection that I mention are the best for genealogy research.

Example 1 – Finding the 1626 Census of Monterrey  - Here I provide an example on how to find this early census of Monterrey using both the books or the online index. Thus, providing a first hand example of how I do it to find records.

Example 2 – Finding the Will of Juan Bautista Chapa  - In this section I demonstrate how to find the will of one of my ancestors also by using the book and or the online index.

Recap and Ending Comments  - Just a quick recap of what you will have had learned if you took this online course and also the ending comments.

Overall I enjoyed making this presentation/course and I know that our members will enjoy learning how to use the Monterrey online archives.
