An early settling family of Matamoros is that of Jose Gregorio Cantu and Maria Gertrudis Moya. Here you will find their children and who they married.

Recreating the early families of Matamoros is not an easy task. Many records prior to 1800 are missing. The best that we can do is work from 1800 forward.

Jose Gregorio Cantu and Maria Gertrudis Moya have one of the first marriages that are recorded in the surviving church records for Matamoros. They married on November 3, 1801.
