Juan Jose Solis and Maria Gertrudis Hinojosa

An early settling family of Matamoros is that of Juan Jose Solis and Maria Gertrudis Hinojosa. Here you will find their children and who they married.

Juan Jose is listed, in documents dating 1784, among the thirteen settlers of the area that later on became Matamoros.

Juan Jose Solis is the son of Juan Jose Antonio Solis and Josefa Vela. He married Maria Gertrudis Hinojosa in January 7, 1766 in Camargo, Nuevo Santander (Camargo, Tamaulipas). She was the daughter of Juan Crisostomo Hinojosa and Margarita Gonzalez Ochoa.

To date, I have only found nine children for them
