Early Settlers of Monterrey: Pedro Camacho and Maria Gutierrez Olea

Pedro Camacho and Maria Gutierrez Olea

An early settling family of Monterrey is that of Pedro Camacho and Maria Gutierrez Olea. Here you will find information about their children and who they married.

In his will dated November 8, 1662, Pedro Camacho states that his father is Cristobal Hernandez and Monica Camacho. As we can see he adopted the surname of his mother instead of that of his father.

He also mentioned that his first wife was Maria Gutierrez Olea and his second wife was Ines de Arriola.

He had seven children with Maria and two with Ines.

The parents of Maria Gutierrez are Rodrigo Gutierrez and Isabel Olea. The parents of Ines are Juan Ramos de Arriola and Maria Melendez.

Pedro also mentioned in his will that he was from Lepe, Huelva, Castilla, Spain. One can only assume that he was born in the early 1600s.
