Early Settlers of Mier: Jose Pedro Regalado de Hinojosa and Maria Catarina Pena

Jose Pedro Regalado de Hinojosa and Maria Catarina Pena

One of the early settling families of Mier, Tamaulipas, Mexico is that of Jose Pedro Regalado de Hinojosa and Maria Catarina de la Pena. In the 1757 census of Mier they are listed as follows; "Don Pedro Regalado de Hinojosa, casado con Doña Maria de Peña, tiene tres hijos, todas armas y seis caballos".

From what I have found from secondary sources is that Pedro was adopted or raised by Diego de Hinojosa and Maria Ana Josefa de la Garza. Note that I have yet to find a primary record indicating this.

The parents of Maria Catarina de Peña are Jose Jacinto Pena and Ana Maria Guajardo.

Here are the names of their children and whom they married. For more descendants of theirs please visit our Community Family Tree.

  1. This is my direct line, Maria Victoriana Peña+Juan Jose Dimas Treviño (Cayetano Treviño+Maria Luisa Gutierrez de Lara). I already had the information, but Thank You Moises, keep up the good work! Jose Geronimo Treviño

  2. Moises, Pedro Regalado Hinojosa’s death was reported by Diego Hinojosa . He was asked to provide documentation that he was Pedro’s father. He didn’t have that documentation. He was then asked to sign an unknown document. Pedro was later reported as an Adopted son, and that he grew up in the home of Diego Hinojosa. I can send you that death record if you don’t have it. Pedro only used Regalado on some records, and also was reported as Antonio Pedro Regalado.
