Early Settlers of Burgos: Joseph Antonio Leal and Maria Magdalena Fernandez

One of the first families to settle in what is now Burgos, Tamaulipas was that of Joseph Antonio Leal de Leon and Maria Magdalena Fernandez de Tijerina.

Joseph Antonio and Maria Magdalena married on the 3rd of May 1747 at the Santiago Apostol church in Santiago, Nuevo Leon, Mexico. The parents of Joseph are Antonio Leal de Leon and Manuela Guerra. The parents of Maria Magdalena are Andres Fernandez de Tijerina and Margarita de Trevino.

They alogn their children appear in the 1750, 1753, and 1757 censuses of Burgos.

Joseph Antonio Leal de Leon was married a total of four times his wives were:

1. Antonia Gonzalez de Ochoa
2. Maria Apolinaria Perez de Leon
3. Maria Apolinaria de Montemayor
4. Maria Magdalena Fernandez de Tijerina

To date, I have only been able to find 13 children for Joseph Antonio.
