Early Families of Saltillo: Alonso de Cepeda and Bernarda Herrera

An early family of Saltillo was that of Alonso de Cepeda and Bernarda Herrera. They lived in the late 1600s and early 1700s. Here you will find their family group showing their children and who they married.

Alonso was the son of Ambrosio de Cepeda and Juana de la Fuente, he married twice. He married Bernarda Herrera who was the daughter of Francisca Herrera and I have yet to find the name of her father.

Alonso also married Juana Garcia the daughter of Lorenzo Garcia and Maira Juana Flores de Valdez.

ALONSO¹ DE CEPEDA ^1-18.  He died before 24 Feb 1707^{4, 9}. He married (1) BERNARDA HERRERA (daughter of Francisca Herrera). He married (2) JUANA GARCIA (daughter of Lorenzo Garcia and Maria Juana Flores de Valdez).

Alonso de Cepeda and Bernarda Herrera had the following children:

1. MARGARITA DE CEPEDA² CABALLERO (daughter of Alonso de Cepeda and Bernarda Herrera)^{1, 11, 14, 19-25}.  She married MIGUEL FLORES DE VALDEZ (son of Diego Flores de Valdez and Maria Guillen de Abrego). He died before 06 Jan 1725²⁵.
2. RODRIGO DE CEPEDA (son of Alonso de Cepeda and Bernarda Herrera)¹³.  He married (1) JERONIMA DE MORALES (daughter of Andres Morales and Leonor Lobo de Acuna). He married (2) JOSEPHA DE MORALES. 3. PEDRO DE CEPEDA (son of Alonso de Cepeda and Bernarda Herrera)¹⁵.  He married CATALINA FARIAS (daughter of Joseph Farias and Ines Aguirre). She was born before 14 Nov 1685 in Saltillo, Coahuila, Mexico¹⁵.
4. MARIA DE CEPEDA (daughter of Alonso de Cepeda and Bernarda Herrera)¹⁶.  She married MATIAS PENA (son of Alonso Martin Pena and Maria Lopez). Church Marriage: 09 May 1708 in Saltillo, Coahuila, Mexico¹⁶
