Early Settlers of Camargo: Blas Maria de la Garza Falcon and Maria Josepha de los Santos

Blas Maria de la Garza Falcon and Maria Josepha de los Santos

One of the early families of  La Villa de Camargo is that of Captain Blas Maria de la Garza Falcon and Maria Josefa de Los Santos Coy. Please note that Blas and Maria Josefa did not have any children, at least I have not been able to find any for them.

Now, in the 1757 census of Camargo they are listed as follows; "Captian Don Blas Maria de la Garza Falcon, casado con Doña Maira Josefa de los Santos COy, tienen dos hijos, todas armas, ciento cincuenta caballos, cuarenta y cinco burros, cincuenta y cinco burras y goza quinientos pesos de sueldo al año; tiene ciento tres sirvientes de ambos sexos." In English "Captian Don Blas Maria de la Garza Falcon, married to Doña Maira Josefa de los Santos Coy, they have two children, all weapons, one hundred and fifty horses, forty-five donkeys, fifty-five donkeys and enjoy five hundred pesos of salary per year; has one hundred and three servants of both sexes."

Blas was first married to Catarina Gomez de Castro with whom he had three children. The parents of Blas where Blas de la Garza and Beatriz de Villarreal. The parents of Catarina Gomez de Castro were Jose Antonio de Castro and Nicolasa Baez de Trevino. The parents of his second wife, Maria Josepha de los Santos were Nicolas de los Santos Coy and Ana Maria Guerra.

Here is the 1750 Census of Camargo and it's transcription followed by the family group of Blas Maria de la Garza Falcon and Catarina Gomez de Castro.
