Early Families of Salinas Victoria: Joseph Joachin Lozano and Clara Maria de Montemayor

Joseph Joachin Lozano and Clara Maria de Montemayor

An early family of Salinas Victoria from the 1700s is that of Joseph Joachin Lozano and Clara Maria de Montemayor. Here you will find their children and who they married.

Joseph Joachin is the son of Andres Lozano and Antonia de Gongora. He was married twice, first to Clara Maria de Montemayor and then to Isabel Maira de Treviño. This article will focus on his children with his first wife Clara Maria. Later this year I will publish the family information for his second marriage.

Clara Maria was the daughter of Diego de la Garza Montemayor and Lucia de la Garza. It is interesting to note that her brothers and sisters used Montemayor instead of de la Garza. So there are many Montemayor out there that were originally de la Garza. These Montemayor have the same Y-DNA as the de la Garza.

Joseph Joachin and Clara were married on November 21, 1736, in el Valle del Carrizal.

Most of their children were baptized and married at the Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe church in Salinas Victoria.

So far, I have only come across four children for them.

Here are the names of their children and whom they married. For their ancestors and or to see more descendants of theirs please visit our Genealogy Database for South Texas and Northeastern Mexico.

Here is their family group:
