Early Settlers of Burgos: Joseph Santiago (mestizo) Camarillo and Ana Sabina (mestiza) de la Garza

Family group of Joseph Santiago Camarillo and Ana Sabina de la Garza Burgos, Tamaulipas

A settling family from what is now a days Burgos, Tamaulipas, is that of Joseph Santiago (mestizo) Camarillo and Ana Sabina (mestiza) de la Garza. It is unknown when they married but they baptized their first child on the 15th of October 1734 in Monterrey.

We then find them baptizing their children in Salinas Victoria and finally two of them in Burgos. Four of their children that reached adulthood died in Burgos, Tmaulipas and left descendants there.

I have yet to discover who their parents are. Something interesting is that on one baptism record Ana Sabina appears simply as Ana Sabina de Herrera. This could very likely be her mothers surname.

Both of them appear as Mestizos in the records. Up to today I have only been able to locate five children for them.

Here are the names of their children and whom they married. For more descendants visit our Las Villas del Norte Genealogy Database.
