Brick Walls – Apolonia Guerra Hinojosa
My 2nd great-grandmother was Apolonia Guerra Hinojosa b. 9Feb 1858 and d. 29 April 1927 in Premont, Jim Wells, Texas. I visited the Sacred Heart cemtery in Falurrias but there was no headstone. [1st brick wall] Oral family history give two accounts of her place of birth one being Brownsville, Texas and the other being Mier, Tamulipas. I have not been able to confirm either of those places. I found her certificate of sacramental marriage by writing to the Catholic archieves in Corpus Christi, Texas. The year was 1875 but no month or day stated. At the San Patricio County court house I found her marriage certificate dated 8 February 1875 to Jose Yrineo Lozno Cantu b. 1 Jul 1855 Monterrey, NL, Mexico d. 15 Aug 1938 Premont, Jim Wells, Texas. At times Apolonia went by Guerra and at other times Hinojosa. [2nd brick wall] I have not been able to confirm who her parents were. I have had discussions with with other geneologists but accounts differ. I would appear there are two Apolonias born about the same time which has lead to confusion. I have read her probate estate records filed by her spouse and family members but no mention of her parents. I did note she held property in Zapata County. One day I hope to visit the county courthouse in hopes of finding some mention of family members. Thanks for reading my post and maybe helping me with my brick walls. Ruben
