I have been looking for the birth record and marriage record of of my gggrandfather Juan Villarreal Flores to Ma. Guadalupe Vela in the Mexican Church documents (Camargo, Reynosa). I only have a census record so far. SanJuana was Juan’s second wife and I do have a copy of the marriage certificate from Hidalgo County but no death records, divorce or burial information. Is there anyone here familiar with these lines who would like to trade information? I also have a burial photo of Juan with male family members I am more than willing to share. Any help is appreciated. Thank you. 🙂

Hello Laurie, I have Juan Villarreal and Guadalupe Vela in my tree. They are ancestors of my wife. I have the marriage date of 9-20-1870 for them in Reynosa. I checked the civil registration records but could not find it. Maybe it is a church record. I got the date from Rosie Flores also a descendant of theirs. I do not have any parents for Guadalupe but for Juan, I have Pedro Jose Villarreal and Maria Guadalupe Flores. I’ll continue to dig. Also, that marriage in Hidlago that you have, was it signed by a priest? If so then maybe there is also a church record for it in Hidalgo County.

Hi, Moises – thank you for that info. For JVF and MGV I have that date but need the corroborating church record. MGV’s parents were Juan Nepomuceno Vela and Ursula Flores. For JVF and SJRQ I have a copy of the Hidalgo County marriage certificate. I do not believe there will be a church record for the marriage it being Juan’s second marriage and from what I understand might have also been SJRQs second as well as I was informed that she already had children when she married JVF but that was unconfirmed in terms of documentation.

Hello, Moises – it has been some time since I last messaged you on this ancestor. My dad did the Big Y test and matched up to a another male from the San Juana Rodriguez y Quintanilla children. So good news, we have matching DNA to establish Juan as a common ancestor for one male line for each of Juan’s wives. Bad news is that I keep running into a wall in terms of connecting with descendants of Juan’s Siblings: Antonio, Zenon, Presciliano, and Luciano. Further, I know there were multiple marriages to Flores females who descended from Marcos Flores (Porcion’s 38, 39 and 40). Juan’s first wife MGVela was from the Marcos Flores line as an example. Juan’s mother, Maria Guadalupe Vela was a descendant and Juan’s grandmother Maria Gertrudis Flores was as well. Anyway, I have tried to work through the South Texas DNA study but it’s been a challenge. If you want to catch up further ont his topic, let me know. It has been a real journey trying to find these ancestors.
